Model Answer 1:
I like to give gifts to my family, friends and relatives on different occasions whenever I get an opportunity. These gifts, of course, could be anything, from a nice gift card and flowers to some fancy objects. But, today, I would like to talk about a time when I offered money as a gift.

It was about a couple of years ago when the birthday of my best friend’s nephew was approaching. The boy was about 6 years old who I used to treat just like my own nephew. But, he wasn’t exactly like other boys of his age as he didn’t have much liking for things like nice shoes, dresses or expensive bicycles. Instead, he liked to collect interesting books with nice pictures of animals from all over the world. He also liked to collect books that contained information on beautiful places, oceans and mountains. I guess that the boy really liked “nature” even if it means spending the whole day watching the activities of fishes and frogs in a lake.

So, anyway, when I asked the little boy what kinds of gifts he preferred for his upcoming birthday, I was desperately hoping that he would ask for something else other than some “unique” books because I was too busy at that time to find a nice book for him. But, the little boy had no intention to understand my “desperation” as he decided to ask me exactly what I didn’t want to hear. Yes, it was indeed a “book”, again. However, this time, I wanted to be a bit “innovative” with my gift idea and decided to offer him money as a “gift”, which he didn’t mind.

Anyway, I chose “money” as a gift because I didn’t really have much time back then to go around the book shops and look for the books which the little boy really preferred. Besides, I also wanted the boy to act like some other kids of his age so that he also could have the ‘liberty’ to like and buy something else other than books.

Sample Answer 2:
Well, thank you for this nice topic and it reminds me of a day in September 2019 when I gave a hundred dollar bill to my niece. In fact, she wanted a gift for her 14th birthday, so I gave her some money as I was unable to manage time to get a gift for her and wanted to buy her something of her choice.

Samantha is a sixth-grader at a local school in New York and she loves to play video games, collect stamps, read books and travel with her parents whenever possible. Participating in extracurricular activities is also something she likes a lot. On that occasion, I came to know that she was planning to get some travelling gears that she had found online. So I gave her the money so that she could buy something she wanted.

She is very adorable and we love her very much. So whenever her birthday approaches, we all try to give her a nice gift. But being a university student and a part-time researcher, I need to spend busy days. In fact, I was out of town before her birthday and when I returned just the day before her birthday, I gave her the money so that she could buy the sports gears she showed me online.

She was surprised and happy when I gave her the gift and told her about it. I felt so happy too.
