Model Answer 1:
I live in a rather small town. So, whenever there is a new opening of anything or any new activities in my little old town, I come to know about them one way or another. Today, I would like to talk about one such new opening of a new shop in my area.

It is a “super shop” (some people would prefer to call it a “grocery store”), a self-service store, offering a wide variety of food and household items, organized into different departments. They named the shop “At your service” which has an opening hour from 7 am to 11 pm. I would consider the new shop as a large shopping outlet because it has a size of as large as 7000 square feet, with a huge parking space in front of it.

It sells a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and dry food such as grains, biscuits, cereals, loaves of bread and cake among many other local and imported food items. It also has different departments for frozen foods, fish, meat, kitchen appliances and cleaning products. Another special feature of this new super shop is that it has a completely separate section for “organic” foods (foods which are grown without pesticides). They have only recently opened the shop, but I have already found out that the shop has already become popular among the city dwellers.

In fact, I have seen that different kinds of people, including family men, businessmen, young students, professional people and regular persons, are visiting this nicely-decorated super shop for their daily needs. From what I have seen so far, I would say that most of the products, sold at the store, are of good quality and affordable.

Anyway, I like the shop because it looks fairly clean and nicely organized, so I would definitely go shopping there. Besides, I would like to visit the new place in order to buy some of their organic foods because I have found that they sell at a much lower price than many other stores in my town.

Sample Answer 2:
Recently, a shop, named "The Upscale Shoppers" has been opened in my area, Perth, Australia, where I live. This shop mainly sells baby items, food items, fruits & vegetables, perfumes, cosmetics and toiletries. It appears to me that this is a super shop on small scale. I am happy to see it on my block and I go there to get the necessary things whenever I need to buy them.

This shop is suitable for all types of people who live nearby. Many local people, especially females, go there to purchase cosmetics and toiletries and fresh fruits. I also visit the shop to get some branded perfumes and toiletries for my family and I like the fresh fruits and vegetables they sell.

The shop sells various types of products. Almost all the products belong to reputed local brands and some of those are imported as well. The shop sells perfumes, different types of cosmetics, toiletries, bathing accessories, baby items, makeup accessories, food items, fruits, vegetables and many more. They sell all products at a reasonable price and in case of any defect, they exchange the faulty product with a new and fresh one without any delay or excuse.

Of course, I will shop there. In fact, I already shop there from time to time. I like their product range, price and customer care service. The price is reasonable and there is no hidden charge. Besides, it takes only a few minutes from my house to reach there. So shopping from there is convenient for me.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe a shop that recently opened in your hometown/area."

You can approach with some alternative answers for this cue card topic. Some of the answer hints are -

1. I went to have some groceries from the shop located opposite my residence in Perth, Australia the other day and I liked it very much. I heard that it opened a couple of weeks ago. The shop is good for its quality products and good customer relations and aftersales service.

2. I went out to purchase a pair of shoes for myself and that's when I realised that a new and large shoe store has recently opened in my area. They have a great collection and I was happy to see this store where  I believe I would go from time to time to buy shoes for me and my family.

3. Lisa is my classmate and she is considered a 'foodie' by many. She loves to taste various types of foods wherever she can. So, I invited her to taste some traditional foods at a local food shop newly opened in my city, Munich a couple of months ago. She loved the food and the shop and became a great fan of their coffee.

4. My experience with a local vegetable selling shop was splendid. I went there to get some fresh vegetables. A relative of my wife’s family came to visit us and my wife told me that he was a vegetarian. Thereby, I rushed to get some vegetables from the shop located on the opposite block of my residence in Nice, France. The shop started its journey in the area recently and became popular for fresh vegetables and fruits.

5. I was looking for a particular book recommended by my college professor but I could not find it after looking into many bookselling shops. Finally, I found the book at a newly opened bookstore in the middle of the street where I live in Naples, Italy. I was looking for the book to prepare for my next assignment but did not get the book in other libraries after spending a couple of hours. Luckily, a bookseller suggested me to visit the library next to my home. And I got the book there.

6. Finding a pet is not easy if someone lacks the proper knowledge of a pet. In some cases, the pet shop owners suggest a pet to someone after hearing the requirements and residential status of the person. So, I visited the Pet-Café, which opened recently in my city, Osaka, in Japan. It was a nice experience. The shop owner suggested me to have a cat as a pet.
