and explain why everyone smiled/laughed.

Model Answer 1:
Seeing other people laughing always makes me happy just as much as sharing a story of laughter. I also believe that people should always try to laugh as much as they can, whenever there is a reason for it, because laughter makes us feel happy and alive. So, it is indeed a pleasure for me to talk about this cue card topic.

It was about a couple of years ago when one of my cousins was getting married. All of our family members, friends, relatives and many other distinguished guests had come to attend the marriage ceremony. It was also attended by a number of little children. However, having the most fun at that marriage ceremony was a “gang of children” who seemed to be “fearless”.

Immediately after arriving at my cousin’s place, they made sure that they were announcing their “loud presence” everywhere by opening the “gift boxes”, playing with the flowers of wedding decorations and running to the kitchen, among many other things. Sometimes, they could also be seen “posing” for pictures with the wedding photographer.

Anyway, after finishing the formal activities of the wedding ceremony and enjoying the delicious food, there finally came the time for watching the wedding videos. And, the videos were being played on a big screen through the use of a projector so that everybody was able to enjoy them. The guests got busy watching the videos (videos of important events and activities of the wedding ceremonies) while enjoying some light snacks, also at the same time. Then, suddenly, everybody burst into laughter, and it continued for about a minute. By the way, I think it was one of the most natural and “contagious” laughs I had ever heard in my life.

Anyway, everyone burst into laughter because the particular “gang of children”, causing “mischief” at the wedding ceremony, could be seen secretly carrying the big wedding cake, away from public eyes, at a corner, and then eating it like there was no tomorrow!  Well, the wedding guests couldn’t possibly have expected to see any funnier video of children than this, could they?

Model Answer 2:
Thank you for this nice cue card topic. While taking a photograph at a family event, everyone had to smile at me as I pointed the camera at them. In fact, without smiles, photographs remain incomplete, at least these days. So, to make the photos complete and better, a smile is a must. And the people who posed for the picture smiled at the camera to get their happy faces clicked. This cue card question reminds me of the day when I took a beautiful picture for some of my relatives.

The event was arranged marking the 19th birthday of Adaliz, my cousin. The event was held on the rooftop of their house, and the place was decorated nicely. Some traditional food items were prepared to celebrate the event. And finally, it was time to take photos. Some took group photos while others took selfies. I took a group picture of some of my relatives, and they smiled at me because I was holding the camera.

It was more than a birthday party. A family gathering would be the best term to explain the event. The event was attended by almost all the relatives of my family. I went there with my parents and other siblings. Everyone was asking me to take their photos, and I was gladly meeting their needs.

Unhappy faces are unexpected, and so people smile when they pose for photos, especially in a happy event like a birthday party. So, when I said that I would take group photos, everyone agreed. When they posed, they smiled so that they looked beautiful in the photo. When the photos were printed, the smiling faces really looked beautiful.

Sample Answer 3:
Thank you for this interesting topic. Due to our busy and modern lifestyle, it is indeed rare to have time and laughter together with friends and family. We cannot manage enough time for ourselves due to the hefty schedule we follow. But last month, we all celebrated and smiled as I was offered a position as a senior executive at a multinational bank in Malaysia.

I went to attend the final interview with a reputed bank operating in Kuala Lumpur on the 24th of last month, and I was able to reach the last round of the interview. The interview was held around 10.30 am, and it lasted for around an hour. The interview board consisted of five members. One of the members was the Vice President of the bank. As it was a senior position, some other bank high-ups were present in the interview session. Everyone present on the board was happy with my overall performance, and so I was offered the job.

So later this evening, I invited some of my friends and relatives to a restaurant to celebrate this happy occasion. Every one of us laughed and enjoyed to our fullest. We enjoyed our food and smiled at every funny and not-so-funny joke.

1. My baby boy was born last January. Interestingly, he got my look and smiles whenever he sees us cuddling him. Seeing him smiling, everyone present at the hospital also smiled back. In fact, my boy was smiling, and he looked like an angel. I was happy to see him smiling.

2. My niece turned eight this month, and I was invited to her birthday party. I took a pet for her as a birthday gift. She smiled at me. I noticed that everyone surrounding her also smiled at this event. It was a great moment for me. Everyone smilingly thanked me for the birthday present. I loved the way they accepted the gift, and their smiling faces made my day.

3. I made a snowman last winter in front of my house in Georgetown, Colorado. It was a nice structure. One fine morning, I found that a couple of tourists were passing by my house, and one of them urged all to take a picture of this nice snowman. Everyone posed with the snowman, and they were smiling. I was happy to see them smiling.

4. Entertaining guests is difficult if you do not know how to cook delicious food. But my guests from my in-laws’ family were happy with the traditional food that I made to mark their arrival. I loved their smiling faces when the food was put on the table. My mother-in-law was the happiest person of them all.

5. While walking down the road the other day, I saw that a woman accidentally dropped a purse but did not notice the matter. She was walking with a man, and they were busy in a conversation. I rushed after her, took the bag and gave it back to her. Both of them smiled nicely at me. They also thanked me a lot for caring for the purse she dropped.
