Model Answer 1:
My recent trip to India was interesting and provided me with some of the memorable experiences of my life. I went there with my family and visited almost all the notable tourist spots. But I could not pay for after dining at a local restaurant. It was a troublesome matter for me and my family. But somehow I managed to control the situation. This is a nice candidate task card and I will describe the event by answering the questions. I feel lucky to have the card in my share.

I could not pay for the shortage of local currency. I am an Indonesian and when I go abroad, I try to manage local currencies so that I do not have to get in trouble with paying bills. Besides, I also use an international credit card. But it became trouble when my family members spent all the local currencies I took there by shopping. So, when we entered the restaurant, it was an uncomfortable matter for me when they did not accept the credit card.

I apologized the restaurant manager and they also were flexible. Then, I asked the manager to allow someone to be with me so that I can pay the bill from my hotel where I was staying with family. They agreed and one of the restaurant staffs came with me to the hotel, which was not far away from the restaurant. And I paid the amount with a smart tip.

To be honest, it was an embarrassing situation for everyone. Though I checked before entering the restaurant that if they accepted credit cards and found everything okay with it. But later, the restaurant manager informed that it was impossible for them to accept the card payment. However, I was fortunate to handle the situation smoothly.

Model Answer 2:
Thank you so much for this excellent topic. In fact, it reminds me the event when I could not pay the bill when I went for a birthday shopping for my niece in Greece. My niece went shopping with me and marking her upcoming birthday, I wanted to pay for a dress. This was a nice looking frock and came with an excellent design and style. The outlook of the frock was wonderful indeed. And the most important thing was that she liked the dress. So, I wanted to pay for that.

Usually, I do not carry cash with me as I have a credit card of a local bank that I use for my everyday purchase. But this time, I forgot to pay the outstanding bill and thus the card did not have sufficient balance. So, my purchase was not honoured. It was a shameful event for me. As I went out with my niece for shopping, I should have been careful about the money. But I made a blunder and felt embarrassed.

Later, I made a phone call to a friend to bring some cash to get rid of the unwanted situation. Accordingly, my friend arrived within half an hour with the money. And I used the cash to pay for the dress. And that relieved me from the shame a bit. Now I am careful about the credit card bill and remain updated with my outstanding bills.

Honestly, I felt embarrassed when the salesman said the card was rejected and he said it in front of everyone there. So, it was all about my prestige and luckily I was able to save that. In fact, it might have had a negative impact on my image to my sister’s in-law’s family. I was saved at last by my friend.
