Model Answer:
I don’t really watch sports on TV much because, most of the times, they show such sports which I don’t really enjoy. However, I do like to watch a sport from time to time, which I consider being more “gentlemanly” game, because it doesn’t involve that much physical activity or efforts.

The name of this sport is “pool” which is considered by many as a popular “billiards” game of British origin. This sport is played on a rectangular, wooden-table, covered with a green cloth, which has 4 pockets in each of its corner and two pockets in the middle of the longer sides of the table. This game is also called a “cue sport” that originated among the British people during the 15th century.

Anyway, this “8 ball pool”, and perhaps the most popular form of “pool”, is played one against one, and the size of the balls and tables are regulated. The table, measuring 4ft x 8ft, is just under 3 feet high while the hard balls, 15 in number, are made from “Phenolic resin”. By the way, these hard balls are approximately 2.7 inches in diameter. In this sport, a white ball is also used to hit the other 15 hard balls, including a solid black ball, in the pockets of the table with the help of a “cue stick” (usually made by “wood” also). Once, 8 balls of a particular colour are sent in the pockets by a player, he or she would need to finally drop the “black” ball ahead of his or her opponent, in order to win the game. By the way, I have already tried this sport a couple of times.

Anyway, I want to try this sport, mainly because it doesn’t involve too much physical activities which is very important when people can get sick if they do not maintain social distancing during the time of Covid 19 pandemic. Besides, another great advantage of this sport is that I can actually enjoy my favourite food or snacks while playing this sport in a rather relaxing manner. Finally, it is a “social” game which allows us to befriend with people from all walks of life, young and old, male and female, alike.
