Model Answer 1:
We all feel happy and honoured about the success stories of our families and friends, whether they are big or small. But, some success stories make us even more proud because they are achieved under some trying circumstances. Today, I would like to talk about one such success, which was achieved by my friend about 4 years ago.

Kim Lee, my college friend, always liked to maintain a “low” profile for as long as I had known him. So, when he told me one day that he would run for the post of a local “Councillor” in the following local city council election, I couldn’t quite believe him. Then, he assured me that he was really serious about his plan. But the more I reminded him about his “low profile” personality and the lack of “popularity”, the stronger he felt about winning the election.

So, I just stopped trying to convince him and decided to join him instead to help him pursue his “political ambition”. Anyway, we started our electoral promotion by visiting each and every resident in our area, including people from all walks of life, background and professions. Kim also wanted to publish “advertisements” in local newspapers as well as post some “leaflets” to spread the election news except, of course, the problem was that he just didn’t have enough money. On the other hand, Kim’s parents didn’t want to go along with his “crazy” plan, so he couldn’t expect any financial help from them either. So, Kim sold his favourite “sound box” and a few other “valuable” belongings to pay for his election campaign. Of course, it was not enough, but, my friend still managed to win the election!

Anyway, I think it was a success because the “electability” of my friend was close to “zero” due to the fact that he wasn’t even remotely as popular and “aggressive” as the other candidates. Besides, it required a certain amount of funds to run for the election which my friend didn’t have. Finally, it was a success because he turned his “low profile” personality to his advantage rather brilliantly.

Sample Answer 2:
Success is always desired, everywhere. Everyone is after it but not all of them can achieve it. At times, the enjoyment is even higher when someone close to us becomes successful. My close college buddy Leonardo was successful in attaining a German scholarship a couple of years ago and it made me excited and proud.

About a couple of years ago, Leo told me that he was going to apply for a scholarship at a German university. I was wondering why he preferred Germany for the scholarship. In fact, we do have some great universities here in Spain and thereby his decision to go to Germany surprised me.

Anyway, Leo applied for a scholarship; in fact, he applied to four universities in total and owing to a moderate academic background, it was tough for him to accommodate himself at any reputed German university for higher studies. But, Leonardo worked really hard to prepare all the required papers, translated them into German, learned basic German, was interviewed by teachers over the phone and finally sent different writings to these universities. His effort was finally paid off when he achieved a scholarship at one of the best universities in Germany.

Truly, it was a success for Leo. He had to study the German language for at least six months and it was challenging. Besides, he cut off his online time and fought against many odds and finally, he won the battle. He is an international student at one of the most reputed German universities now. And he promised to get a better academic career this time, and, in fact, he is doing exactly that! Considering all these aspects, I think it was a big success for him. Since he was a close friend of mine, I was very happy to see him fulfil his dream.

And that’s exactly how I succeeded in achieving a goal recently, which I otherwise thought was not possible. Now, calling “riding a car always” - no matter wherever I go and how short the distance is - is a “bad habit” that might actually offend some people, but it certainly felt like one to me. I found out that I was gaining extra pounds in my body, and my fitness was deterioratin

When I was browsing the CNN.com (in fact I visit the website at least twice a day), a news story titled - ‘How to lose a job in 30 seconds’ attracted me. I thought that the news story is about offering suggestions to give up a job within half a minute. But when I entered the story, it was a different thing. CNN.com is o
