Model Answer:
Thank you very much for this nice cue card topic. to illustrate, Riyadh is a global city and capital of Saudi Arabia. This is a grand city and filled with all the modern benefits, and geographically located on the Arabian Peninsula. Some prominent historical issues are also attached to this city. Riyadh has an enriched history beginning from the pre-Islamic age and now this city is an iconic one. It accommodates over six million people at a time. This cue card task looks smart and I am happy to deal with this. The remaining answers are as followed.

There are several districts and municipalities here and are assigned under authoritative control of the government. The city is spacious and there a wide number of options for various types of activities like commercial activities, entertainment options, shopping and dining in restaurants and much more. The night view of the city is stunning and there are some prominent landmarks as well that have made the city famous in the world.

I have lots of memories with this city. I have been born and brought up here in Riyadh. I have passed my childhood in the old part of the city. And I also have experienced the developments of Riyadh. The developments were too rapid to adjust with in those days. Besides, I can recall the school and college days here which were filled with excitements. While living in the old part here, I used to move in the downtown of the city with my friends and schoolmates. The memories will never die.

I like this city for many reasons. The most important thing about the city is it is my birthplace. So, I have a different type of attraction to it. The modern facilities and the living are also a preferable matter to me. Therefore, I like this place very much.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe a place that has a special meaning to you."

Places are attractive and might have a different meaning to individuals. Here are few other hints to help the IELTS test takers to answer this cue card differently.

1. Marine Drive in Mumbai is the place that attracts me most. I have been born and brought up near this boulevard and have observed the changes. The look is perfect that it has now. Marine Drive means a wide place where I am sitting with my friends and spending hours in gossip. I also have other memories like driving across the Marine Drive without any destination.

2. Photography is an art form and I am trying to be an artist. I travel to different places to get photos. Rainbow Mountains in China is my beloved place to get some extraordinary photos. Actually, the mountain is known as Danxia landscapes. A perfect place for photography. The striking mountain colours and surrounding environment has made it a heaven for me.

3. I have visited many cities in the world but none of them was appealing as Amsterdam. The capital of Netherlands is adorned with a wide canal system. In fact, I am in love with the lakes in the city. The city owns an enriched historical background. I also met with my beloved wife in this city when I migrated here from Malaysia. Life is going on since then and I do not want to leave the city anymore.

4. My honeymoon at the Cat Ba island in Vietnam was extraordinary. It was different than the customary honeymoon. We camped on the rocky island and explored it. But eating the canned foods was not so easy as seen on televisions. But I heartily enjoyed the sunrise and setting scenes from the island. I would like to go back again on the island.

5. I love skiing and Sochi, in Russia, offers me the best places to ski in the country. I eagerly wait for the season and whenever winter comes, I jump off to the ski resorts. Krasnaya Polyana Mountain Cluster is a memorable place for me. Last year, I broke my ski board here. Luckily I was saved. But still, I love the place for its outstanding skiing features and facilities.

The main highway of our locality was built around 15 to 20 years ago and it has connected the locality with the main city which is about 20 kilometres away from the countryside we are living in. But now it is almost ruined and there are ditches across the road that has made the road bumpy. When it rains, the rain waters clog on the centre of the road and make it muddy.
