Model Answer 1:
Do you know what is the best thing about taking a bicycle tour? Well, you never feel obliged to take the same route when you are on a cycle path. At least, that’s what I did when I took a bicycle tour about 4 years ago from now.

When I was a university student, I was really passionate about riding a bicycle, either with my friends or alone. However, the problem with riding alone was that I never felt as energized as riding with my friends. So, one day, I, along with several other friends of mine, decided to hit the road on a day-long bicycle tour from our university.

We, a group of 5 friends, decided to start our tour on a fine Saturday morning and return back to our university before the sunset. Of course, as I have already mentioned earlier, we didn’t take the usual route as we wanted to visit different pockets of the city and the beautiful countryside along the way. We did everything to make our bicycle tour a very enjoyable and memorable one which included making a video of our “competition” with a running train, taking pictures of the playing rabbits on the streets and helping a baby bird to get back to its nest. We also rested ourselves by the side of a beautiful lake while counting the number of different species of wild birds in it. We didn’t forget to enjoy some delicious foods on our way either. I believe that we travelled about 50 kilometres before returning to our hostels at the end of our tour.

I enjoyed every minute of my bicycle tour because I felt like I didn’t really have to worry about finding a way or getting stuck unnecessarily in some bad traffic. Besides, having an opportunity to see the life and activities in and around the city from up close for the first time was indeed a unique experience for some young students like us. Finally, being able to enjoy the beautiful nature of the countryside on this bicycle tour was indeed very refreshing for our restless young minds.

Sample Answer 2:
A few months ago, I went on a day-long bicycle tour with some close friends from Kandy to Colombo in Sri Lanka. It was a far distance for a bicycle ride, but we enjoyed the ride anyway. It was an interesting and adventurous experience for every one of us. It took about six hours for us to reach Colombo. This is a great cue card topic and I will describe the experience in brief now.

I made the trip with some of my local college friends in Kandy, which is a city in Sri Lanka. In fact, they were planning to make such a day-long bicycle tour for a long. After finalising the plan, we were seven members of this team and brought our bicycles to take the longest ride of our life. We started the journey early in the morning and planned to get back to the city before the sunset and we were successful in doing so.

The trip was amazing. We did many things during the tour and taking photographs was the most common of them. Besides, we mostly ate delicious street food, took some time off in beautiful places. Sometimes we had to slow down as the streets were broken in some parts of the city. Finally, we also sang various songs during the tour.

I enjoyed the tour from the very beginning to the end. In fact, it was the longest bicycle ride for me and I could not believe that I would be able to ride such a long distance (it was over 75 kilometres). When I returned home in the dusk, I felt a great sense of accomplishment despite a horribly tired feeling.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe a bicycle tour that you took."

A candidate may want to talk about this cue card topic using a different idea. Hence, here are some suggestions to support them in finishing the cue card task in some other ways.

1. I was very much attracted by a guided bicycle tour offered by a local travel agency in Sri Lanka. The tour was a part of a promotional offer from the newly opened travel agency. Though they took a smart amount of money in exchange for the guided tour, it was free this time, probably for their publicity.

2. Taking part in a day-long campaign for some noble purpose is interesting and fulfilling. I had such an experience and it was a bicycle tour to create awareness about breast cancer marking the ‘World Breast Cancer Day’. Gladly I took part in the event and enjoyed the bicycle tour very much.

3. Making a solo tour on a bicycle is adventurous indeed. I had made such a tour recently. I went to Vrindavan in India by riding a bicycle. The journey was interesting and took about six hours for me to complete the entire trip. Though it was difficult to make a solo trip, I enjoyed it nevertheless.

4. I went to Yokohama from Tokyo last week to meet some emergencies and I took a bicycle ride for that tour. It took me about one hour to reach Yokohama. I had to visit the city to meet a friend who fell sick all of a sudden. I took the two-hour bicycle ride though it was not a much pleasant event after all.

5. Greece is a heaven for bikers and there are numerous places to ride bikes in this country. I have travelled to different parts of Crete and enjoyed the experience so much. Teaming up with a couple of college friends, I made the trip. And we visited the most notable places there. We also have a plan to make such trips in the future.
