Model Answer 1:
Mr and Mrs Saad live in the opposite apartment to mine at Safwa City in Saudi Arabia, and they are a couple who have a very happy marriage, in my opinion. They have been married for over 20 years, and still, they are like teenage romantics - if you observe them closely. This is a great candidate tasks card for me, and I am delighted to have the chance to describe this blissfully married pair.

I first met this duo when my parents purchased the apartment we are currently living in. As neighbours, they paid us a visit on the very first day, and I was introduced to them formally. However, due to their friendly attitude and amiable and frank behaviour, we became close within a few months. I started visiting them frequently, and they loved me like their own daughter, though they did not have their own children. They even began to have a weekly party with my family, and they started to become like our relatives.

This couple does a lot of things together, like cooking, watching movies, playing chess, taking their dog outside and so on. But I liked the way they care for each other the most. They also go on outings together in different parts of the country and outside of the country, and they have so far visited 23 countries. Shopping for themselves, their relatives and neighbours during festivals is an important task for them, and they spend a hefty amount each year for this.

They have a happy marriage, without any doubt. I believe it is not just because I have seen them happy from the outside but also because I have observed them closely for many years. They are each other's soulmate and their love for each other is genuine. They are the epitome of a perfectly married couple, and I think people who know them should envy them!

Cue Card Answer 2:
Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to describe a happily married couple. Mr Jim and his wife, Mrs Rita, share a strong bond, and in my opinion, they are a great example of a happily married pair. They are a famous photographer duo in the city where I live. They have a small family with a three-year-old baby boy. I love to talk to them whenever I go to visit them. Actually, they are the nicest couple I have ever met in my life.

I came to know them during a photo exhibition a year ago. I went to visit the exhibition with my fiancé, and it was a nice place to visit. There we met the couple - Jim and Rita, who were interested in buying a piece of artwork that we had just booked back then. We allowed them to have it, and they were so grateful. At one point in the conversation with them, I realised that Jim was a friend of my cousin, Alfred. We became friends afterwards, and we often visit their house.

Both of them are professional photographers. They have travelled to different parts of the world as part of their assignments and professional needs. Being freelance photographers, they are able to work together. In their leisure hours, they cook, read books and have parties together. They are more like two best friends who are also happily married, and that made me realise how strong their relationship is.

I feel happy for this couple who share a special bond. They have been married for about eight years now, and they are a perfect example of how married couples should be friendly, caring and compassionate to each other. Their actions prove that they care for each other to a great extent, and they would travel to the end of the world to make each other happy. I wish I had such a relationship when I get married.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe a couple you know who have a happy marriage."

As an IELTS candidate, you can also follow some other approaches to complete the answer to this cue card topic. Some of the clues to answer this topic are given below.

1. My meeting with Mr and Mrs Jones was quite interesting. They own a small restaurant beside my office. Gradually, I came to know that they have a very happy marriage. I was glad indeed knowing the fact. They always love to be with each other. In fact, they are a model for every married couple.

2. While visiting India last year, I found a small family in a remote village – only two members, a husband and his wife. They do not have any other family members, but they live in peace. They lost other family members in a tragic road accident. I felt sad for them. But it was a great relief to know that they have been happily married for the last ten years.

3. Married for the past 10 years, Annie and John make a good family. They are blessed with two kids, too. Being a neighbour of theirs, I also feel proud. The key reason behind their happy marriage is that they do not go to bed angry. They resolved all the troubles and went to sleep.

4. The saying goes that forgiving is the best way to show love. The saying fits in the marriage, too. I know a happily married couple in my neighbourhood. They are happy because they forgive each other no matter what. The wife once said to me that they forgive each other because they love each other. That was amazing. In fact, if we can't forgive someone we love, our love is not real.

5. My parents are a happily married couple whom I personally envy for their unconditional love for each other. They have a great understanding between them, and I have never seen them shout at each other. They also love each other so much. My parents also share household activities together like a team. I love them very much and wish that we, their children, have happy lives as they have.
