Model Answer 1:
Prizes are always inspiring and help people to perform better than the current level. I also dream of receiving a prize for my academic excellence. The prize is known as the President’s Merit Award for academic excellence and distributed among the students who have a high performance on their academic activities.

I am an undergraduate student of architecture at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, commonly known as UTAR in Malaysia. I am studying Foundation in Arts – Graphic Design, Multimedia and Architecture. Here I am undergoing courses about graphic design, architecture and multimedia. The courses are a bit difficult for me as I am not from the arts background. So, initially, it became difficult for me to get through the courses. But gradually I started understanding them and now I have understood the courses very well than any other students. Thereby, I am planning to get the President’s Merit Award this year and there are chances for me to win the award.

When I got admitted in the university, I did not have any idea about the award at all. Suddenly one day, in my architecture class, the teacher was describing his success and how he got the President’s Merit Award from the same university a couple of years ago. I got interested in the award and asked him to describe in detail. Then he told me and the entire class about the award. This is one of the most prestigious awards for the students and only those students could achieve it who have a higher academic excellence. Besides, he also described the benefits of achieving the award. All of the students in the class were amazed at the description of the award. The president of the country distributes the award among the best students. It is a great chance to meet with the president and also opens the potential of future success. When a student is awarded with the President’s Merit Award, s/he is respected in the society.

Winning the prize is not a matter of joke. It requires seriousness for the potential candidates. Usually, the students having a strong academic background are eligible for the award. But students who are performing better than the average scores also could apply for the award. But the institution authority confers the award to those who have some outstanding score in their academic activities throughout the academic year. They, in fact, do not need to apply for the award. I think I have to apply for the award as the initial scores of mine are not up to the mark. Thereby, the authority will not select me for the award and instead I have to submit an application. Then I have to study hard to win the prizes. Usually, I waste most of my time on social networking sites and often I go out with my buddies to pass leisure hours. But if I want to win the prize, I have to be sincere with my studies and also have to give up wasting times unnecessarily. I am irregular to my class as well and have also to change the habit. I know, it is difficult for me to change my usual lifestyle, but surely I will do it for the betterment of my future.

I was unaware of the prize but when I came to know about it, I intend to win it. Now it has become important for me. Usually, the President’s Merit Award winners are considered special in everywhere and in the case of career, they are prioritised. To build up a career has become a difficult task in Malaysia for the growing population and migration. I have a plan to establish an architectural firm in the later phase of my life and initially, I will learn everything about the subject. If I could get attached to any reputed architectural company, it would help me to move ahead with confidence. But if I do not have any academic distinction, I would lose the eligibility to be hired by any reputed company. Besides, I also need the award to prove my excellence on the subject and having the President’s Merit Award is really a great issue for any student, especially who is non-native in the country. So, considering all the aspects, it is highly important for me to win the President’s Merit Award.

Sample Answer 2:
I would like to win the Louisiana Film Prize which is awarded for the best short film. This is a prestigious award for the short film makers of the country and the world. Some certain matters are focused here. Thank you for the question. And I will describe the matters here.

The annual film contest takes place in Louisiana. A large number of people attend the contests. There are some people who want to win the contest while the remaining others are interested in experiencing the newer short films to get entertained. However, the contest has not gained a global position and the short film makers consider this as their shrine and place their best efforts.

I came to know about the prize through one of my friends who want to be a film maker. In fact, before making a large scale film, he was practising with short films. He made different types of short films and already has won an award for his film making techniques. My friend took me to the film festival to enjoy one of his movies that he made last year. He submitted the movie under comedy category. But it was not the attempt to make people laugh by artificial ways. There was some humour in his movies. It was an interesting experience to me.

The first and most important thing to win the prizes is to set my mind that I will win it. Then I need to make a detailed plan and course of action to perform all the tasks. Next, I have to select a movie plot. If the plot is not available, I have to make one. This is the most daunting tasks. Without a remarkable plot, this is not possible to make a movie. Despite being a short film, it needs an outstanding plot. Selecting the casts is another important aspect to winning this award. The people who provide the awards are highly skilled and know every single detail of film making. So, the film should be the perfect one to win the prize.

I had a dream to make films, particularly short films. But could not make the dream come true. So, I started dreaming again of making a nice short film that will win a prestigious award. After visiting the film festival, my determination to make a short film became firmer and the amount of prize was also a notable source behind inspiring me on the matter. My earlier attempts went in vain for many reasons. But this time I want to do something exceptional. Already I have made a plot and been negotiating with the casts. If everything is okay, then I will start filming the short film soon. This is really important for me to get a recognition of my creativity.
